"The Pursuit" - MTB Ministries

We see Christianity in sports like Supercross and Motocross constantly. From riders who have crosses painted on their lids, to early morning services held before the days events - attended by athletes, mechanics & industry people alike. With downhill mountain biking holding many similarities to their "moto counterpart," it's no surprise that, in our small community, Christ's message is taking similar routes. Riders like Mick Hannah & Cole Bangert have both expressed their faith on their helmets, and now The Pursuit, is taking the 'message' to the next step..

The Mission - To spread this message to our generation through action sports: Jesus Christ gave His life to give us life and now lives - offering Hope, Purpose and Eternal Life to anyone who will reach out and take His hand.

"The Pursuit is a ministry that will be traveling to these races and providing church services, a place to pray, a place to confide and most importantly a vessel that will be used to pour God's untamable love into the community belinging to Downhill, Mountain Cross, and Cross Country."

Pretty strange that religion needs to be involved in sports. I think this form of crusade doesn't belong in extreme sports. Just my opinion, nothing against God or Jesus.

Kind of strange how sports are now being used as a recrutment tactic. Just my opinion, nothing against God or Jesus.

i couldn't disagree with "anonymous" more. i don't see it as a recruitment tactic, or a form of crusade. it's not like the Pursuit is going to push their beliefs onto you. it's just an avenue for people who are a part of this religion to still participate in their beliefs... & if they're all mountain bikers, then why not congregate together?

i know many people who skip church on sundays to take part in racing. should racing be the blamed on taking away from this? no. so why not let people who are into this do their thing.

if it's not something that interests you, then you don't need to participate.

I agree with you JDD. I myself have no interest in this "Pursuit" but am really glad to live in a place where we can ride our bikes all over the country and world and people can express their views be it political or religious. As long as the message is not pushed upon people, I think they should just keep on doing what makes them happy.

Wow. I know typing makes things seem exaggerated, but this incited some pretty hostile responses over on RM. But I applaud you, JDD, for doing what your site is meant to do...provide an outlet for ALL information related to DH.

Yes, I am a Christian, and Southern Baptist, but my belief is to live a life that draws others TO me...rather than pursue others to persuade them to BECOME me.

They're just giving people with similar beliefs a place to gather at races.
