Congrats to all of the Olympic guys & gals at the Olympics in Beijing! Regardless of where everyone ends up, we're all stoked for ya!
On that note, just a quick rundown on our MTB family out there!
Anne Caroline Chausson took the women's vicotry after some great battles with the BMX rider from England (sorry, forgot her name)... unforunately for her, she ran into ACC's rear wheel in the final turn & was taken out. That coulda been a sweet sprint to the line.
American Jill Kintner (GT Bicycles) was lookin good throughout the race. she was fortunate enough to avoid some crashes throughout the track and captured bronze!
& our good buddy Jared Graves had another jinxed finals. Grubby dominated all of his heats and was looking good in the finals. Although he didn't get a holeshot, he dove in & swooped the front riders in the first turn & was neck & neck for the lead. Unfortunately after landing the HUGE men's gap (over the women's track), a rider behind him.. (i think the South African guy) got a bit bucked when he landed & crashed into the back of Graves. Jared got thrown into the asphault turn pretty hard... i'm surprised he was able to scramble back to his bike. I didn't get to see whether he was able to finsih or not, but all was lost by that point.
Americans Mike Day & Donny Robinson finsihed 2nd & 3rd... not sure who won - a guy from Latvia i think... i about collapsed once i saw Grubby crash.
Next time you see our guys & gals, give them a big pat on the back. No matter where they ended up, we're all proud that they were able to represent in the Olympics!
WAY TO GO!!!
